Trump Jr. says that Romney 'should be expelled' from the GOP - Woke America

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Donald Trump, has lashed out at Sen. Mitt Romney for his decision to vote to convict the president for abuse of power, saying he "should be expelled" from the Republican Party.

Trump Jr. took to Twitter to slam the Utah senator:

"Mitt Romney is forever bitter that he will never be POTUS. He was too weak to beat the Democrats then so he's joining them now," he tweeted. "He's now officially a member of the resistance & should be expelled from the @GOP," he added.

"The grave question the Constitution tasks senators to answer is whether the president committed an act so extreme and egregious that it rises to the level of a high crime and misdemeanor. Yes, he did," Romney said in remarks on the Senate floor ahead of the vote, which saw Trump acquitted on both charges.

"The president is guilty of an appalling abuse of public trust. What he did was not perfect. No, it was a flagrant assault of our electoral rights, our national security, and our fundamental values," he said.

"I swore an oath before God to exercise impartial justice. I am profoundly religious. My faith is at the heart of who I am. I take an oath before God as enormously consequential," he said.

But even in his speech, Romney admitted that he would receive some backlash from his party.

"The president is guilty of an appalling abuse of public trust. What he did was not perfect. No, it was a flagrant assault of our electoral rights, our national security, and our fundamental values," he said. "I swore an oath before God to exercise impartial justice.
