Today the NAACP’s Legal Defense Fund filed an Amicus brief in opposition to the citizenship question being added to the 2020 census. Some social media users found their stance to be a slap in the face against fighting for black American reparations.

Kofi Changamire took to Twitter to voice his opinions about the latest announcement from the NAACP’s Legal Defense Fund. Changamire, is an avid supporter and member of #ADOS, or American Descendants of Slaves. The ADOS is a group with a primary focus on repairing the systematic financial and economic imbalance between white Americans and descendants of American slaves still endure.

With the reparations hearing earlier this month, Changamire felt that the ADOS perspective continues to be overlooked for other (non black based) issues. He specifically accuses the NAACP, a national association created to combat inequality issues— as aiding in this negligence.

However there were those who defended the LDF’s decision as timely and appropriate:

BREAKING: The Supreme Court has prohibited the census citizenship question from being included in the 2020 census.
