How Trump's 'Alternative Facts' Agenda Impacts Black People!!

We are all feeling the pressure of living under the shadow of the Trump administration. One thing which cannot be denied is that President trump's reign is keeping the media on their toes.

Fact checks are a regular media operation, but Trump's statistics are raising eyebrows for a far from flattering reason. As we all know, he regularly stretches the truth. And while to some, his false facts may be seen as the harmless actions of a blundering commander in chief who just has no clue... there is a more sinister side to the administrations doling out of misinformation. To steer the narrative of African Americans contributions to the country and to undermine the accomplishments of Black former President, Barack Obama.

At a recent rally in Kansas, Trump made the following statement. “It’s only habit. It’s habit, because, for 100 years, African-Americans have gone with Democrats.”

Anybody who knows the history of the Republican party will know that this statement is categorically not true. From the party’s inception way back in 1856 right up to the election of Franklin Roosevelt, African Americans voted exclusively for Republicans. Back then, white segregationist politicians in the south were predominantly Democrats and Blacks were not even allowed to attend Democratic conventions and Southern Blacks were prevented from voting.

“How does your African-American, how do you vote for somebody else? I’ve done more for them in two years… And their median income is the highest. But not only for African-Americans, for Asian.”

Another false statement from Trump:

If you can get past his incoherent ramblings, what Trump is actually trying to say is that he and his administration are solely responsible for the rise of incomes for both African and Asian Americans. Also false.

In 2000 the average African American household brought in $42,348 and also statistically no stronger than President Barack Obama‘s last year in office. The same goes for Asian American families who earned $83,182 in 2016 compared to just $81,331 last year.

Since his time in office, Trump has made several grandiose claims of having greatly improved the country’s economic standing, when what he's actually doing riding on Obama’s coattails. The truth is, without Obama, the sitting president would have very little to boast about. His time in office is marked by attacking people on social media, labeling the media as the “enemy of the people” and burning bridges with our international allies.

Former secretary of staff, Colin Powell is the latest politician to speak out about Trump’s rogue presidency.

“I hope the president can come to the realization that he should really stop insulting people,” Powell told CNN. “I used this two years ago when I said I could not vote for him in the 2016 election. Why? He insulted everybody. He insulted African Americans. He insulted women. He insulted immigrants. He insulted our best friends around the world – all his fellow candidates up on the stage during the debates. I don’t think that’s what should be coming out of a president of the United States. But I don’t see anything that’s changed in the last two years.”

We don’t see any change either. But one’s things for certain, Trump and his office will continue to push their alternative facts onto the American people one tweet and cringe-worthy press conference at a time.
