Fashion house Versace have announced the pending release of their updated iconic Biggie Frame, as inspired by B.I.G. himself. The frames are both a nod back to the classic Versace frame as well as paying homage to one of hip hop’s most influential figures as that glasses became synonymous with Biggie’s trademark style.
As any Versace lover will know, Donatella was a huge fan of the New York rapper.
"I think Biggie was amazing. He came to my shows in Paris many times, and we'd see each other often," Donatella told Fader back in 2011. "He always used to talk so nicely about my family. I think he was so smart, so intelligent. He had such a mind. So I loved what he was doing and how he was giving people a way to know about Versace—I do think he was giving people a way to know about Versace—I do think a lot of people started to know about Versace because of him."
The rap industry was quick to jump on the Versace bandwagon following Biggie’s many endorsements both on and off wax.
With COOGI sweaters making a big comeback, now any die-hard Biggie fan will be able to complete the look! The news comes just weeks after news broke about MIchael Kors’ acquisition of the esteemed fashion house in a bid to boost its credibility. The deal was for a reported two billion dollars and catapulted Michael Kors to being one of the most searched clothing brands in the world. Searches for the brand are up an enormous 108 percent.
The glasses will only be available for purchase at Barney's stores and Barneys.com from October 8th and for one month only. The price tag will be $295 - which isn’t bad for limited edition pair of designer sunglasses. We’re guessing they’ll sell out very quickly!
