A white woman from Iowa woman who made headlines after she told police she ran over a teen because she "was a Mexican" has been charged with another attempted murder after police say she hit a 12-year-old boy on the same day.

Nicole Poole Franklin was charged with attempted murder last week after admitting she intentionally ran over a 14-year-old girl just because the girl was Mexican. Police say that an hour before she hit the girl, she also ran over a young, Black boy.

Des Moines Police Sgt. Paul Parizek said they had acquired footage of the incident showed she intentionally hit the 12-year-old boy, who was walking along the curb of a Des Moines apartment parking lot. Franklin's SUV jumped the curb, ran over his leg, and before she fled in the vehicle, police reported.

Just 90 minutes after running over the teens, police arrested Franklin at a West Des Moines convenience store after a store clerk confronted her for stealing. She became unhinged and began yelling racial slurs at him and other customers.

Franklin was charged with assault, theft, and public intoxication. She told officers then that she'd smoked meth within the past five hours, according to the report.

"Looking at the three incidents collectively, the hate-filled motivation is apparent," Sgt. Parizek said in a statement received by email.

"There is no place in our community (or any other) for this kind of hatred and violence," Clive Police Chief Michael Venema said after Franklin was first charged with attempted murder.
