A pastor has been arrested after he reportedly strangled a pregnant woman in his church.

The woman reportedly fell and hit her head after the Charleston pastor allegedly strangled her, police reports states.

35-year-old Rashan Lamar Wilson was slapped with a charge for domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and given a $20,000 surety bond. He was also hit with a no-contact order for the victim and cannot leave the state. The victim is reported to be eight months pregnant with the pastor's child.

According to Live5News, the victim stopped by the church to drop off their children on Monday night at the Southside Baptist Church. The couple then got into an argument, which led to Wilson assaulting her.

“The suspect then lunged toward the victim, put both of his hands around her neck, squeezed tightly until she was unconscious for an indeterminate period of time,” court records state.

The victim then fell to the concrete hitting head on the ground. She suffered an "abrasion to the right side of her forehead," authorities said.

She was transported to MUSC after calling 911 and she was treated and released.

“The defendant showed extreme indifference to the value of human life and would reasonably cause a person to fear either great bodily injury or death,” read a statement by the Charleston investigative officer.

The investigation continues.
