Florida State president John Thrasher condemned a racist meme posted on Facebook depicting head coach Willie Taggart's head on the man of a body being lynched.

The meme made it's rounds online following Seminoles' 41–14 loss to Florida.

"A recent racist social media post aimed at our football coach is ignorant and despicable. I speak for the entire FSU community in expressing our disgust and extreme disappointment, and I am glad the state attorney is investigating.

"Coach Taggart has our full support and as true Seminoles know, he is a respected member of the FSU family."

The meme, which has since been removed, included the words: "Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing your rep," a play on the recent Nike advert with Colin Kaepernick.

Taggart is the first Black football head coach in Florida State history and took on the role late last year.

Fans were outraged.

An investigation into the meme is being led by the state attorney.
